Government: Worship What You Hate?

By Floyd Bayne

It's embarrassing that I have to explain this.

When you complain about the government taking more of your money, complain about the government taking away more of your rights, complain about the government growing larger and taking over more of your life, when you go to Washington, D.C. or your state capital and stand with thousands of others to complain about something the government has done or hasn't done, when you demand that your government stop getting us into endless wars for no reason, other than to benefit an elite few, when you complain about and go to meetings and shout at your government representatives for not doing something they told you they would do, when you go to a school board meeting and demand that they stop kow-towing to the Department of Education in Washington, D.C. by shouting at them and threatening them, when you complain about and go to protests against the government, because it threatens to take away your 2nd Amendment rights, when you demand that your government afford you the right to pray in a public place OR NOT to pray in a public place, when you do any number of things to show your displeasure with the government because it is stepping outside the bounds placed upon it by our Constitution YOU ARE PROTESTING.

Yet this is the same government, that you don't trust, the same government that you want out of your life, the same government that makes the laws that you scream about as unconstitutional and that should be repealed, the same laws that are enforced by the police departments that work for the government that seeks to restrict your liberty.

AND YET, YOU THEN DEMAND FEALTY, BLIND OBEDIENCE, AND UNQUESTIONING LOYALTY AND DEVOTION TO THAT SAME GOVERNMENT AND ITS SYMBOLS AND ICONS?!

But rather than actually listen to yourself and hear and think about what you are demanding, you get angry with anyone who questions that government and its actions by expressing dissent? Think about that the next time you want to march on Washington, D.C. or Richmond, VA for some slight at the hands of the government.

Maybe I'm missing something here. Perhaps one of you can bring me up to speed.
