You really do need to stop and think about what is going on and its deeper repercussions. While your government, at all levels, is trying to defund or disband the police, allowing riots and looting, and RELEASING VIOLENT CRIMINALS FROM JAILS AND PRISONS, it is also continuing its efforts to take your guns away from you. This will, of course, leave you defenseless against a whole host of bad actors, INCLUDING THE GOVERNMENT ITSELF. You will become even more dependent upon that government, especially for your protection, which it cannot provide even now, much less after the police are gone.
So, who will protect you and your family? Will you call the police if there is a break-in at your home? What if your department has been reduced (defunded)? Now don't misunderstand, I am not necessarily against a change in policing policies, but that means that YOU must have the means to protect yourself, your family, and your property. And YES, I said PROPERTY, as well. If a malcontent is willing to risk their life to take what I have earned then I am willing to oblige them.
There is a much bigger picture to see here and if you think this is all just some unforeseen accident then you are exactly the kind of useful idiot that the government counts on. The time is almost upon you. You are going to have to make a very difficult decision. Will you live as a slave or risk death as a free man? The saying that "Freedom isn't free" may seem a bit trite, but the fact is that if you are not willing to fight, and I don't mean yell louder than the other guy, then you will be that slave and you will have no one to blame but yourself.
